Mentoring Type

VIP provides two types of mentoring opportunities:

Community-based: Mentor picks the child up at home as scheduled by mentor, mentee and caregiver

You must have:

• A valid Michigan driver’s license

• Transportation

• Auto insurance

You must be:

• At least 21 years of age

• Willing to undergo a criminal history check

Each prospective Mentor is required to complete:

• The required paperwork (Application & Background Check Forms)

• Attend 2 hour mentor training/orientation

• A one-to-one interview

Community-based Location Specific: Mentor meets the child at a specific location on the same day at the same time each week like a school, church or community center

You must have:

• A valid Michigan driver’s license

• Transportation

• At least 21 years of age

VIP currently facilitates mentoring sessions at the following locations:

School: Romulus Elementary
Mentoring: Tuesdays
Time: 8:40-9:40 a.m.
Location: Near Metro Airport

 

School: Central Collegiate Academy
Mentoring: Wednesdays
Time: 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Location: Near Linwood and the Lodge Fwy (Northend)

 

School: Charles Wright Academy
Mentoring: Thursdays
Time: 1:00 p.m.-2:00pm
Location: Near Telegraph and 7 Mile Road

 

School: Bethune Elementary/Middle
Mentoring: Fridays
Time: 1:00pm-2:00pm
Location: 8145 Puritan Ave. (Near Linwood and Lodge Freeway)

 

School: Dixon Educational Learning Center
Mentoring: Tuesday
Time: 10:00am-11:00am
Location:8401 Trinity (Near Joy Rd. and Burt Rd. )

 

School: Denby High School 
Mentoring: Fridays
Time: 2:30pm – 3:30pm
Location: 12800 Kelly Rd. (Between Wyoming and Livernois.)
